Tailored analytical solutions designed to meet the specific challenges of your industry applications.

High-Precision Micro-Volume UV-Vis Spectrophotometers

In modern molecular biology, genomics, and clinical diagnostics, sample quantities are often extremely precious and limited. Macylab Instruments Inc. specializes in manufacturing ultra-micro UV-Vis spectrophotometers designed to perform precise qualitative and quantitative analysis on minimal sample sizes. Utilizing built-in advanced optical systems, high-stability Xenon flash lamps, and high-performance CCD detectors, our spectrometers provide rapid, non-destructive measurements without requiring specialized cuvettes or warm-up times.

Our Core Micro-Volume Spectrometer Models

Our catalog features highly trusted, high-performance instruments designed to streamline your daily laboratory workflow:

  • UL-2000 Micro-Volume Spectrophotometer: Our classic model requiring a minimum sample volume of just 0.5 ul. With a full wavelength range of 190–850 nm and multiple optical path lengths (1mm, 0.2mm, and 0.05mm), it provides a wide absorption measurement area that is 100 times broader than traditional spectrophotometers.

  • UL-4000 Ultra-Micro Spectrometer: An advanced laboratory workstation that combines ultra-micro UV-Vis spectrophotometry with a built-in fluorometer, offering extremely sensitive nucleic acid and protein microvolume analysis.

Key Applications in Molecular & Life Sciences

MacyLab micro-volume spectrophotometers are essential tools in modern scientific research and quality control laboratories:

  • Nucleic Acid Quantification: High-accuracy measurement of double-stranded DNA (dsDNA), single-stranded DNA (ssDNA), RNA, and oligonucleotides, calculating concentration and purity (A260/A280 and A260/A230 ratios).

  • Protein Analysis: Diverse assay modes supporting direct A280 protein concentration determination, as well as colorimetric assays like BCA, Bradford, and Lowry.

  • Cell Culture Density: Rapid optical density measurement at 600 nm (OD600) to monitor bacterial growth and cell culture concentration.

Engineered for Exceptional Laboratory Efficiency

  • Instant Measurement: Complete a full spectrum scan and data readout in less than 5 seconds with zero preheating or warm-up requirements.

  • Premium Optical Path: Features a 3648 CCD detector and long-lifetime Xenon flash lamp, ensuring highly stable and reliable baseline performance.

  • Compact & Portable: A highly lightweight design weighing less than 2.5 kg with a small footprint, saving valuable laboratory bench space.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do your micro-volume spectrophotometers require special cuvettes or containers?

A: No. Our UL-2000 and UL-4000 models utilize a specialized pedestal system made of 304 stainless steel and quartz. You simply pipette a 0.5 ul to 2.0 ul sample directly onto the pedestal. After measurement, easily wipe the pedestal with a clean laboratory wipe. No cuvettes are required, although standard cuvettes can also be accommodated using our integrated cuvette slot.

Q: What is the benefit of the Xenon flash lamp used in the UL-2000?

A: Unlike traditional tungsten or deuterium lamps, the Xenon flash lamp only flashes when a measurement is taken. This significantly extends the light source's lifetime to up to 10 years, eliminates warm-up waiting times, and prevents sample heating during the measuring process.

Q: Are MacyLab micro-volume spectrophotometers CE and ISO certified?

A: Yes, safety and quality compliance are our priorities. All MacyLab laboratory analytical instruments are manufactured under rigorous quality systems and hold official CE and ISO 9001 certifications, ensuring they fully meet the strict standards required by European and American scientific laboratories.
